At the 59th Annual Meeting of the Societas Linguistica Europaea (SLE 59), held in Osnabrück in August 2026, I delivered this year’s plenary lecture. The talk introduced the core ideas of Diasystematic Construction Grammar, discussed current issues, and explored its implications for usage-based linguistics more broadly.
The SLE is Europe’s largest professional association for linguistics. It was founded in 1966 at an inaugural meeting in Kiel, on the initiative of Werner Winter, then Professor of Indo-European and General Linguistics at Kiel University.
